This is my first blog. So bare with me.
I'm a mother of two wonderful children, wife to a wonderful man for 15 years-ll months-2 weeks (our wedding anniversary is coming up on February 4th), full-time employee at a major university in Milwaukee, WI, a full-time student at the University Illinois-Urbana Champagne (UIUC), and a part-time computer applications trainer. I have a Master in Information Systems degree from University of Phoenix. I'm currently a graduate student at the UIUC attaining my Master degree in Educational Psychology focusing on Curriculum, Technology & Education Reform. My current classes are EPSY 457 Computer Use in Education and HRE 533 Management of HRD (eLearning). For my EPSY 457 class I'm to mention in this blog something about the class. Below is an excerpt from this semester's syllabus.
This course looks at computers in the broadest sense and considers a variety aspects of technologies and digital media that impact pedagogy, curriculum, and student learning. In this course, we will consider the context of computing by exploring the history of computing, what is currently occurring in the schools, and how technologies and student expectations are encouraging teachers to redefine the classroom experience. The main goal of this course is to enable you to develop a flexible and working knowledge of computers as educational resources in order to better reach your students --- students of the 21st century.I am looking forward to taking this class. The instructor, Dr. Evangeline S. Pianfetti, blogged about teaching this class and how she's excited about this semester. She also mentions her professional and personal backgrounds, which I feel enriches her ability to teach this class. I look forward to learning from her this semester.
I have always been interested in technology and I'm good at relaying information. Consequently, that is why I have decided to go back to school to attain my Master in Education Psychology degree focusing on CTER. At this point in my life, attaining my second Master degree is right for me. I will, in the future, go back to graduate school to attain my Doctoral degree.
